As British supermarkets are increasingly stocking international ingredients, and the larger cities often have international supermarkets, you are sure to be able to find some of your favourite items from home.

For food and other essentials, supermarkets offer the widest range of goods. Save money by buying the store's own brands, and shop just before closing time when many items are reduced in price for quick sale.

You should also look out for special offers in shops, such as ?buy one get one free', where two products are sold for the price of one.

Supermarkets are generally open between 8am and 8pm, although some larger stores are open 24 hours a day. Most open on Sundays too, from between 10 or 11am until 4 or 5pm.

Markets offer cheaper produce, particularly fruit and vegetables, and are also useful for buying cheap clothing. The best time to buy clothes, however, is during 'sale' periods - the biggest sale time is in January. Clothing can be reduced by over 50%. Charity shops are also a good place to find low-cost clothing. They sell second-hand garments.
