To
study in a UK institution, your English will need to meet a certain
standard in order for you to take the course. If you have taken a test
of your English and found that it is not yet good enough, it may be
recommended that you take a pre-sessional course before you begin
studying. These courses often take place in the summer
before the term starts, and can take anywhere from one to three months.
Or you could choose a year-long course, which is specifically to give
you access to the course you will study afterwards. There
are also courses which are in-sessional, so that you can continue to
improve your English and study skills throughout your course. The British Council accredits the English for Academic Purposes courses where they have met the required standards regarding teachers qualifications, course content, facilities and student welfare. Contact the British Council for details of the institutions which offer these courses.
