- Why did you choose to study biotechnology?
Biotechnology is an up and coming subject in Singapore, and Flinders offers a very good program. - What attracted you to study Biotechnology at Flinders?
Flinders has a well rounded program for Biotechnology. Biotechnology is a very wide area of study and the Flinders course comprehensively covers the most important subjects. - What sort of skills do you think you have developed since starting your studies in biotechnology?
The most important thing I have learnt is referencing skills. I’ve learnt to find other resources to enhance my learning abilities, and broaden my knowledge skills. I have also learnt to study independently. - What sort of influences at Flinders have contributed to your personal development?
The people here are really friendly and patient. Being a fast paced city girl, I have learnt to become more tolerant and patient of different types of people and cultural diversity. - In your own words, how would you describe the campus here at Flinders to a friend back home?
The campus is a warm and friendly environment, especially the plaza where you can arrange to meet people and sit and chat. The area around the lake feels very serene, especially after a hard days work. And if you don’t want to sit by the lake, there’s always the view of the sea to look at. I think the location of the campus must be one of the best of any university globally. - How would you describe your experience of campus organisations, such as Clubs and Societies, ISSU, the Sports Association, and religious centre?
I think Flinders has a strong network of communication in all of these facilities. We have access to many societies and clubs and photocopying and binding, movie hire and CD hire are all very cheap. If you are bored and want to go travelling and explore the place, FISA and ISSU are there to assist you. - Looking back on your current experiences, say , two or three years from now, what would you say were the highlights of your study experience at Flinders?
One of the highlights has been having been given the opportunity to complete an exchange program in America. It was a fantastic opportunity made possible because of the support I received from ISSU, and my lecturers – they encouraged me all the way.Another highlight was living in the uni hall. It was a great place to get to know lots of international and Australian students and enabled me to make a good network of friends.
