University of Western Sydney

Why did you choose Australia as your study destination?
Australia, in my opinion, is one of the most unique countries in the world. I couldn’t have afforded coming here on vacation, so studying here is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me to discover an exceptional country that I otherwise probably never would have gotten to know.

What do you like most about the University of Western Sydney?
The units I’m taking here are much more practical than my units at home. Often you feel like you’re already on the job, instead of being a student (e.g. taking pictures and interviewing people for my photojournalism class).

How do you see your study help with your career development?
I’m majoring in public relations, which is a field of work that is becoming more and more international. It requires a great deal of open-mindedness and the ability to work with different cultures. Living abroad doesn’t only help improving my language skills, it also helps me understand the culture better, which is very important in my future profession.

Have you made any new friends in Australia?
I have, and they’re from all over the world. People from 4 different nations are living in my house alone! It’s fascinating how your home country and religion lose their importance here. It’s just about enjoying the experience together.

What advice would you give to students who are planning to study in Australia?
If you get the chance to do it - don’t hesitate, go for it. You’re going to make friends from all over the world, a lifetime of memories and most importantly: you’ll learn a lot about yourself.
