I graduated in 2005 after completing 4 years of study at the University of Salford. I first joined Salford in September 2000 on the BSc (Hons) Finance and Accounting programme then took a Masters degree in International Banking and Finance.
The atmosphere here is both magnetic and electric! I really enjoyed my time at Salford! The most important reason for choosing the University of Salford for my degrees was the course included both the theoretical and practical elements of finance and accounting, especially its focus on giving the student the skills to take into the workplace (inc. Workshop & Work Fair etc.), as well as the BSc programme offered the professional exemptions from both ACCA and CIMA. Since graduation, I registered with ACCA and I’ve been awarded the maximum exemptions from there. Another important reason was its excellent support services for international students.
I made many good friends as a result of taking the course and also found the lecturers helpful and approachable and my English has improved considerably.
For me, nothing is more honourable than to work for my own country. I’m striving to be a qualified English Anchor, particularly prefer to the Finance or Business sector. The professional skills developed as part of the course, such as presentation skills, has played a significant part in my application for an English Anchor at media sector. The course allowed me to pursue my interest in Finance & Accounting and English, which has broadened my career options. As a result of the course I went into some job interviews and assessment days knowing I had a strong grounding in Finance & Accounting and also English Skills, as well as a much greater level of self-confidence.
The course was delivered through challenging, practical, real life situations based upon group work and case studies. There were also seminars that allowed me to keep abreast with progress within the discipline as a whole. It was well structured and helped my develop all the essential skills. Interesting and stimulating! The lecturers were very helpful and approachable. The staff were very supportive and that created a good working atmosphere.
I would thoroughly recommend the University of Salford to anyone as it has such a perfect academic environment, great social events from plenty of clubs or societies and enjoyable learning experience.
